Rules Meant To Be Broken?

You know this isn't Paris, because there are no metal posts along the sidewalk to enforce this rule. This car, despite the admonition above it, has been parked on the sidewalk in front of the auto rePAIR shop for as long as I've lived in Seattle. I notice new graffiti behind it and some new city sidewalk improvement markings near the front tire. I wonder if it will have to start minding the absolute rule once pavement repairs commence? Well, with the new snows, it is probably best that this old baby stays put, anyhow.

Post Script: Maybe someone at the garage saw this, because when I was in that area today (12-3) there was a red car in this one's place--the first time I'd noticed any change since July!

I saw Luggi's cacti picture yesterday and really, images of 'things' popped into my head. I resisted making a comment for fear it may be too crude. But glad to know I wasn't the only one who saw 'things'! :)

j'aime bien ces vieux garages ou l'on retrouve des vieilles voitures.
Belle prestation offerte.

I like these old garages or one finds old cars. Beautiful service offered.

Vintage cars are always interesting. Curious that this one has not been restored. Perhaps it has no engine!

The car in itself is interesting and its location is what makes it truly fun and exceptional!

Some people think the rules are always for someone else. I think its a great old car though. It could be a real classic if it was restored.

Kim, this is one of the best parts of going to the Five Spot, aside from all the dogs out front! Thanks for the great photo...

Jazzy, You lucky duck to have been to Havana. I've heard so much about the the well preserved cars there.

Jing, Well, love is blind. . .this car is just ugly ;^). The primer tells me progress has been made, but I photographed it back in July, and nothing has changed since then. The repair shop must be way busy with other stuff.

Olivier, Ici dans les voitures classiques de Seattle semblent être une passion. Il y a beaucoup de voitures complètement restituées voyageant de la ville et ils sont amusants pour voir. De bons garages sont abondants ici et c'est une chose agréable.

Kate, I hadn't thought of that! You might be right. Classic cars seem to be a common passion in Seattle. It's something we noticed right away when we moved here. Cherry old steel wonders are everywhere to be seen. I should try to photograph them, as some have been real works of art/labors of love.

Nathalie, Thanks! I often wonder which came first, the car or the sign. It does seem to be intentional humor.

Photowannabe, It looks like it's on its way to being a beaut, just taking more time than anticipated, I suspect.

Mara, Thank you! Nice of you to visit and comment, and nice to "meet" another patron of the 5 Spot. Yum! Is it me, or does QA take the prize for most dogs on the street?

I'm guessing the owner of the car is the one who put up the sign?
