Ballard Syttende Mai Parade Sea Serpent

Seattle's 2008 Syttende Mai Parade wended its way through the Ballard neighborhood in 87 F degree heat yesterday evening. This sea serpent appears to have devoured poor Leif, but delighted the warm children along the route with mist from its nostrils and squirts of water from it's pal, the Norwegian Spitting Fish. Almost thought it was time for the Milk Carton Derby! There was a viking float last year.

Beautiful pic Kim. Love the composition and the colors in this. It is tack sharp too, great job all around.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Boy, evacuating the kids must have been not only lots of work but also very frightening.

According to the local news there were just a few minutes between the puncture of the gas line and the explosion. Apparently the police were in the process of evacuation when this terrible thing happened.

Is it true that the Taco Bell in Ballard serves lutefisk burritos on Norwegian Constitution Day?

"Louis" thinks that rumor is true because he started it himself....

Interesting, Kim. When I saw this on the portal, I thought it might be a real lizard!

It looks like Cecil! Well, I'm probably the only one old enough to remember Cecil.
