Theme Day: Corner Market

Ken's Market

Photo & Text Copyright 2008 Seattle Daily Photo. All rights reserved, including reproduction or republishing.

The CDPB theme for June 1st is Corner Market, and here are some views of the very convenient, friendly, and well-stocked Ken's Market & Espresso on Queen Anne Hill, where you can pop in for early morning espesso drinks or in the afternoon for a rotisserie chicken, deli sandwich, fresh organic veggies, local bakery bread, wines and cut flowers. You are invited to run down to the corner and pick up a little something in nearly every part of the world today. 174 CDPB members are participating, and you can begin your global trip to the corner store by clicking this link to our Theme Day Portal, or from the list below. On your tour, won't you join me in leaving comments to wish a Happy 2nd CDPB Blogoversary to Celine of Stayton Daily Photo, and to Jazzy of Tuzla Daily Photo, and Happy 1st to Laurent at Chateau-Gontier Daily Photo, all of whom share such wonderful images from their cities!!!

This is a take your pick post. I like the one in the middle. I guess it is all Ken's Market. So I like that one. LOL

Nice post.

Asparagus and artichokes - yes, same seasonals here. Just the setting is different.

A nice way to start the day with a cappuccino in hand and some food shopping already done for the day!!

That really does look like a one stop shop.It appears quite localised though compared to faceless supermarkets. I like the way you have used a montage to illustrate the post.

Your corner shop is a corner market? Lucky you!! Seems like my kind of place. I need to rush to the farmers market and get some fresh flowers. Happy Theme Day, Kim!

Hi, Kim. Thanks for your comment on my photo today. (And the crossed legs probably belong to someone enjoying a beer or a smoke; that's usually who I see!) Anyway, I like your photos today. They remind me of Market Time (I think that's the name) on Fremont where I go when I'm in Seattle--friendly people, good produce and take-outs; just a nice place.

I love asperges and artichauts! Our posts are almost twins today! I wish you a nice Sunday, dear Kim, hear it's the evening...

I really like your collage of your shop. It sounds and looks like a great place to shop!

I regularly ride past Ken's on my way to Trader Joe's. Never stopped here, but looks like a great place to shop. I do appreciate being close to convenient shopping, and envy your proximity to Maccarina Bakery :)

you make me feel hungry!

The local bakery bread sounds very good. I also found it funny, your link to "the perfect cure for a badly sprained ankle".

And is very classy of you to remind us to drop by to congratulate Celine, Jazzy, and Laurent.

Thanks for registering at the Daily Photo Map. A thumbnail of your latest photo now appears on the map.

Sounds like a very versatile establishment!!

It's sounds really good to have a little snack and espresso to go.

The description makes me hungry! I feel like I need to go to a market right now for lots of yummy coffee, bread and more.

Thanks much for visiting and leaving comments everyone!
And Denton, I should have mentioned in my commentary that the article about the broken ankle you refer to was written by a local blogging celebrety, Gluten Free Girl, who has published a book that's a best seller now, and who wrote that blog entry about shopping at Ken's Market a few years ago. I thought folks might enjoy seeing the store through her eyes. Thanks,
-Kim

Wow! I don't have the skills yet to do a patchwork collage, but this really gives a great multidimensional idea of the place. You might even say it's Cubist!

I'm glad you remember Mariposa Market - I solved the multi-photo problem with a linked Overflow blog. ;^) You're always welcome back to Mendocino county.

Nice corner store you've chosen, Kim. Sounds, looks like the big city version of the small town store (Aldrich's Market) I chose today for Port Townsend. Many similarities really. Nice montage with your photos too.

I can see how you could fall in love with a place like that.

Keropokman said...

Ooo.. everything's available here.

I am one that is tempted by all things in a big store like this. I will buy and buy and buy. Sigh...

Happy Theme Day!

It sounds a little like Sunny Farms in Sequim, I love that store! Great photos today!

What a 'super' market.
I need to learn how to do a collage too. MB

Lovely collage of photographs. Looks such an inviting place to have as a corner store.
