Vintage VW Bus at Twilight

I saw this vintage (1967?) VW bus illuminated by streetlight after 10 PM on yesterday's beautiful long summer evening. I was facing northwest for this shot, somewhere on the ridge where the Fremont, Ballard, and Phinney neighborhoods blend into each other.

You have such an eye for making the mundane so pleasant to look at it!

I LOVE THIS PHOTO! The street light casts a perfect light on the VW Bus, and the light gives it an almost sepia tone. Then you have the deep blue sky in the background which looks beautiful. What a great shot! You always impress me Kim with your photography!

It's a beautiful shot, and the bus has a kind of dignity in the spotlight.

Very perceptive. I'm glad you stopped and shot this. The eerie streetlight glow and twilight sky make the VW bus look like it was beamed down by space aliens and might, with good luck, get them as far as San Francisco.

Looking forward to visiting your city over Labor Day weekend.

Perfect lighting on the vintige van. Great shot. Hope your mother is doing better and can at least get some consolation from the amazing view.

I used to see these all over the place when I still worked. I must have just quit research and development and went into teaching then. People drove them to work with one body in the car. I always thought it was wasted space. You could hear them coming from a mile away.

Your photo caught all the dings and dents but the color looks free of rust.

Oh wow, I haven't seen one of these things in ages! Though here, we call it a van, not a bus. You made it look so beautiful. Wonderful shot!

This brings back memories. There was a time when I owned one of these - well I don't know what age it was but it looked similar. You could buy them in London - Aussies and Kiwis would buy and sell them before or after a European tour. Mine lived in Wales with me.

Love the shot and that sky.

This is a great photo, great lighting, and a great example of Ballard/Phinney Ridge. Thanks for letting us see the old hood through your eyes.

Oh, the memories this conjures! Of course I had VW campers. Before leaving on one trip I remember my wife handing me a picture she'd clipped from a magazine ... guy with guitar on top of a VW van at night singing to a full moon! Think I might still have that picture around somewhere. :)

Nice shot! This brings back such memories for me. I drove one for about a year when I was about 18. It was a '64 and belonged to my parents. It finally ended it's long life about 3 years ago when a big tree branch fell on it and totaled it. So sad!
