All Biodiesel All The Time

Not So Cheap Anymore

Can you imagine a large fuel station with a prime location at a busy intersection not far from freeway on ramps that would dare to sell only biodiesel? That is exactly what opened just a month ago at the corner of Westlake Avenue and Valley Street. Rather than the customary colorful flowers in pots and landscaping one sees at some gas stations, it looked to me like this one is adorned with raised garden beds of green veggies! Propel is a Seattle-based company and has made a major investment in opening this unique station in the rapidly transforming South Lake Union area. For another pic, see my More Seattle Stuff page.

Way cool.

A good friend of mine who lives on Guemes Island has been making his own boidiesel for many years from fry grease. He runs dump trucks, backhoes, and cars on the sweat smelling stuff.

Face it. Seattle is just cooler than the rest of the United States!

Great image, Kim. Is the pump really that electric green? I love it!

wow. that's amazing.
I hope it works. It makes sense to use the stuff we'd typically get rid of, like grease.
Love to know what they actually pump here.

Going green is certainly the only hope we have for the survival or human race on earth. And a bold measure like this is what it takes to do it. Bravo to the owner of this fuel station.

Btw, I'm terribly sorry for wrongly calling your name in my comment for your Metal theme day yesterday. My appology.

Hahaha. That very same station caught my eye and I was going to snap a shot, but the traffic started moving again before I could! Nice job!

Ah, the fortunes of living in a large city. It will be YEARS before we get even a hint of this type of thing on our streets here in farmtown Washington/Oregon. But once it gets here, it'll take off like wildfire!
