Theme Day: Metal

Sunset View Fence

Photo & Text Copyright 2008 Seattle Daily Photo. All rights reserved, including reproduction or republishing.

Our monthly CDPB theme day challenge is metal. Sometimes the view and what the view is filtered through compete for attention. This is the case with the beautiful wrought ironwork of metal smith Roman Torres, whose workshop was near my college back in the day, and whose lovely fence at Victor Steinbrueck Park I always enjoy seeing as much as the bay and Olympic range beyond.

You'll enjoy seeing the creative theme interpretations in 182 other cities around the globe. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

Stunning, Kim. I did something similar today on Monte Carlo but I fear not in your league! That dawn or is it sunrise in the distance so makes this work. And beautiful ironwork too. Modern - nice.

A beautiful combination of sunset and wrought iron. It brings warmth to the metal!
Good choice

Both the view and the metal handiwork are perfect together!

This is gorgeous, Kim!

When wrought ironwork is used for art, it moves me and I like it very much. But when it is used only to keep people out I'm not as happy. The wrought ironwork that I posted would be nice if it was a rarity

What a gorgeous fence! You chose a lovely background for it too.

Nicely done, Kim. I've always admired that fence in Steinbruck Park.

Beautiful image, Kim. You really have a fine eye for interesting geometry and the play of light in your images.

"Louis" thanks you for your visit and your kind comments about Mme. la Vache. She's the best thing that's ever happened to "Louis!"

So I looked at the thumbnail and thought, 'Kim said the heck with the theme, I'm showing them this gorgeous bedspread instead!'

Absolutely beautiful. The harsh cold metal against the hot flowing colours is superb. Excellent shot and not just for theme day.

What a wonderful image -- I came here from the CDP home page where I saw it. I'm brand new to CDP so couldn't officially register for this month's theme but I love wrought iron of any kind and it is the subject of my daily post for today.

Oh, this is just beautiful. That doesn't even cover it. I really like this shot. The colours are so perfect for the outline of the ironwork. So simple and yet so incredible.
