OH, Archie!

. . .say that in your best Edith Bunker voice. Archie McPhee's popular novelty shop will be closing its doors after nine years in Ballard and moving elsewhere. Home of the Devil Duckie and all things plastic, schlocky, and beyond cool, it has been a much beloved fixture on Ballard's main drag. Here's the full scoop. So long, fun little shop, and farewell.

That's tragic! I'd have loved to have been able to explore that place.

I knew where this was the moment I saw the thumbnail. I love Archie, Seattle's finest shopping venue. Memories of buying my kids the little plastic germ figurines, a "Real Babies Don't Smoke" doll, oohing over Jesus, Moses and Freud action figures, the list goes on and on. Keep us informed about the new location.

Oh, I love Archie McPhee's and have bought many a fun item from them, especially when my kids were little. At that time, they were on Stone Way in Seattle...so who knows where they'll go now?

This is my first time to see these Devil Duckies and I love them! Sorry to hear the shop's moving, but I hope it'll still be near you. Sounds like a wonderfully fun shop!

I completely respect a place that sends up the rubber duck icon. Strangetastes gives further hints that this business is too important to our sanity to die.

I like the ducks, even if they are the evil spawn of Satan. ;)

It is always sad when a much loved store closes. Those ducks would brighten anyones day.

What a poopie landlord. He better watch out for the Devil Ducks!
