On this Thanksgiving Day I'm thinking of my generous parents who made a wonderful life for me and my brother and shared so much of what they had with friends, family, and perfect strangers over the years. I'm thankful for churches, organizations and individuals who share their time and resources with the poor and take risks, leaving personal comfort zones to show friendship and care through personal and collective action. As the weather turns cold and economic worries have everyone wondering "will we have enough?", it's good to take stock of what is important in life and keep sharing with each other. Seattlites are such generous folks. Thanks to everyone who is making food donations, serving community meals, distributing warm clothing and sleeping bags, providing shelter and showers, caring for kids and the elderly, giving gifts to community organizations, and making life a little easier for someone who could use a lift to their spirits.

Bravo for your photo and this all-too-true comments.
Beautiful sentiment and photo, Kim. Happy Thanksgiving to YOU!
Kim, You, too, have many blessings! Happy Thanksgiving to you! May your day be both joyous and fulfilling! I got up early to make cornbread and now we're off to a local school to help deliver dinners to families who might otherwise go without. This tradition has been in effect for decades with a legion of volunteers who purchase and cook the food, fill the boxes, coordinate the addresses, and deliver the meals. When we return to our own home to have our Thanksgiving meal it will truly be a day of blessings! We give thanks for our priviliged lives.
A Beautiful work environment. Greetings.
...there but for the Grace of God.........
Be thankful and enjoy...
Do unto others..........

happy thanksgiving Kim, hope you have a great day!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
What a poignant photo. Sobering to come face to face with some people's daily reality outside our comfortable homes. Thanks for this vivid reminder, Kim. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
We do have plenty to be thankful for - thanks for reminding us. Happy Thanksgiving.
Well said Kim and your image drills it right home for all of us. thank you for that.

A very touching post and a daunting photograph. Nice-Matin today has a photograph of far too many homeless sleeping on the streets.
Wonderful post today. We do have so very much to be thankful for. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks to everyone for your Thanksgiving greetings! City Daily Photo folks are people I enjoy so much and who make life fun and richer for me, and for all who visit your city images. I appreciate you all and the friendship many of us share across great distances and small ones.
Kate, hats off to you and the folks who cooked and served more than your own meals! How wonderful. And to my friend at Istanbul Daily Photo, yes, I imagine that University District church in the photo IS a great work environment. . .their heart is in the right place and they have taken a risk and incurred expense and expended their care and energy to host the pictured encampment. They were pressured by city fines to ask the encampment to move locations within the coming week or so, and another area church has applied for permits so they may host the campers just a few blocks away.
