First off, big thanks to Shawn for the great images he treated us to this past week. I hope you will be inspired to keep up with his work. I love visiting his Flickr stream regularly, and there is a direct link to it in the sidebar and by clicking here. You barely got a taste, so be sure to check out the vast wealth of images there. Thanks a bunch, Shawn! That was awesome. And thanks to regular viewers for your feedback on his shots. I'm glad folks enjoyed these two weeks of guest photographers. Thanks to Zolt for the idea!

I got the great treat of meeting Michael, whom some of you know from Eric's Paris Daily Photo community. He popped in here to say hi this past week and you may have noticed his comments. We took a photo walk around Capitol Hill when he visited. I was on my way back to my car when I came across this kind of Hopperesqe scene. I loved the woman in the window's hat and skirt.

I really hope you get a good one of the WIND today (Jan 6). It is pretty wild out there right now. Love the colors in this photo. But admittedly, red IS my favorite color.

The black on red is very strong and I like that retro hat too.

Not having the '...wax off.' advertised was a very smart marketing choice. Ouch.

Hopperesque, yes in a way, but different. Hopper used bright colors but always with a certain amount of tonal restraint. The reds here are lurid and appropriate for the name of the shop. I like the woman's hat - looks like a 20s Flapper bonnet.

Kim, I love the intensity of this image. Body language is perfect, too. The sign, though, reminds me of those wonderful gadgets advertised on tv during the holiday season ... "wax on" - "wax off" :)

And Kim, what a nice visit it was! I've given your blog address out to all of my Seattle friends, who were, of course, amazed. I saw this place as well, but your photos really do it justice!

So glad to have met you and the weather in Seattle now seems like child's play considering the cold we're having here right now! Brrrrr If it's going to be this cold, I'd rather have the snow I saw in Seattle!

What a marvellous photograph. I was drawn to the colours first of all, then the woman and then, what a surprise to find it's a spa. I felt it would be a restaurant. Very Hopperesque as you say. Super shot - as per always!

Kim, I've so enjoyed Shawn's photography and his words. What a nice guy he is. His writing allowed us to get to know him a little, as well as see his great photographs, of course. Thanks a lot, Shawn and thankyou Kim for allowing your beautiful blog to be used by other talented photographers.
