Floor to Ceiling

Here is a complimentary lobby entrance view to yesterday's photo. It features one of two glass sculpture chandeliers designed by glass master Dale Chihuly specifically for the block-long lobby of Benaroya Hall. Seattle's 10 year old symphony hall is just down a block on Third Avenue from Seattle Tower, but world's removed in its aesthetic differences, non? Perhaps in 80 years we will find it quaint and charming like Art Deco seems now.

Perhaps. I love the way you catch the height of this space.

The light on this make it look like something else. Not sure what. I have seen some sculpture like this either on another blog or in Flickr. Nice shot. Interesting post.

If you get time, today - Feb 18 - go to Abraham Lincoln's Blog as there is a large photo of the moon that I shot. It won't be there tomorrow as it is one of those large photos that I have been using with each of my blogs and I change it daily.

The light fixture looks a little like a clown fish to me.

I have been seeing Chihuly's work quite a lot recently in CDP. And I'm glad — his work is absolutely wonderful!

Don't forget to vote for the April theme! This month, we get to vote for two choices, thanks to Elaine. Please help spread the word too :)

in pittsburgh, pa, dale chihuly's work was in the botanical gardens. it was a nice mix of the plant life and his art. some really great pieces.

by the way, i love your blog. i've been following it for quite some time now (as i'm hoping to move to seattle in the next 1-2 years) but this is the first time i've commented. thank you for what you do. i enjoy it immensely.

There was a Chihuly exhibit in Miami when I was living there. I think it was the same one Melita mentioned above. I didn't get to attend, but the photos I saw were intense. Nestled among the flora, you can barely tell where his work stops and the plants begin. Very organic.

I believe Meany hall at UW has some of his work as well, non?

Lovely shot of the Chihuly. Is he local to Seattle? Somehow I think "northwest" when I think of his work.
