Today many City Daily Photo Bloggers are posting what they consider to have been their Best Photo of 2009. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants. I hope you enjoy seeing the cream of the crop from a dedicated group of photobloggers, most of whom posted 365 images from their city in 2009. I think all of them had very hard choices to make. Wouldn't you know it, what many of you considered my best shot from 2009 is atypical in that if it weren't in the context of the Seattle Daily Photo blog, you probably wouldn't associate it with Seattle at all. I call it Field of Dreams. We took a spontaneous drive north of Seattle in late April, meandered over toward the Cascades then cut back west and ended up in the middle of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival where we spent from 4 to 7 PM in the flower fields. It was an amazingly beautiful afternoon, warm with a soft breeze. A family including this lovely woman with her sari trailing behind her wandered into my shot as I was focusing on the colorful rows of tulips. I quickly re-framed the shot, focused on her as she was walking, and clicked. It is sure NOT the Space Needle, eh? :-) I've put a few Best of 2009 runners up on More Seattle Stuff.
Let me know if you had another favorite SDP photo from 2009. I'm about to compile a Best of Set 2009 set on my Flickr page and could use your input. Thanks!

Oh yes, I remember this absolutely glorious shot. A superb choice Kim.
Perfect choice. The photo is fabulous and I would have never thought it would be in Seattle
I remember this shot. Now I even appreciate it more, since I've been to India. I was in an area where I hardly ever saw a woman in western dress, and it was so refreshing and beautiful to see this garden of colors walking through the streets and along the roads.
A masterpiece.
A feast for the eyes, Kim. The brilliant colours with the woman in her magnificent sari tops it off.
I remember this. Amazing colors and a different portrait.
Well chosen. Such a gorgeous shot!
une superbe photo, la composition (couleur) est magnifique, superbe choix
This is the second Skagit Tulip image for Best I've seen today and they are both brilliant. It's fascinating to see/hear the different voices of photographers. Each of you was inspired by these fields of tulips but each composed an entirely different shot with an utterly unique feel. Wonderful!
Fantastic colors!
Indeed not a typical seattle sight :) but nevertheless beautiful.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT. you should have used this photo for the Theme Day: Changes. 15 years ago, Seattle would have never looked like this. Finally the world is mixing around and globalization has come to the Northwest. How Beautiful!!
Oh my, I remember this. I loved it then and I still love it now. Gorgeous!
Hi Kim, I think we both thought of the Tulips. I was there the very same day you were I think. I even have a picture of the same beautiful lady. Cosmic!!!
Very beautiful and I am glad you chose this one. MB
Just think 2 1/2 more monthes and the vally will look like this again. MB
Such a joy it is to see your photos, Kim. Thank you for sharing!
Cathy G.
I was half expecting to see Chuck pop up here! ;-) But no, and what a glorious shot instead!
This is fantastic - and even more so for the short window in which you had to frame it. Well done!
Took the liberty of reproducing your entry in My Mysore http://mymysore.wordpress.com/2010/01/16/their-best-for-2009/
Trust its okay with you.
Fine choice, Kim!
Remember this one from last spring. I think we had spent the morning there and you visited the same fields in the afternoon. Super photo, Kim! I enjoyed all twenty of your other favs from the year as well.
I had a look at the runners-up. I'm just grateful it wasn't me that had to choose just one for this post.
I remember this one well. Good pick Kim.
To walk in a field of tulips, that would be a dream come true. I love the light on her sari, Kim, she looks radiant.
Oh Kim this is just a terrific photo. Bravo. I missed it the first time. I would never be able to choose my favorite of yours. As I scrolled down to see what I missed this last week, I was amazed as always.
