I had never noticed this phenomenon before. On a very sunny day the eerie pink waves of reflected light that the Purple Haze wall of the the Experience Music Project scatters everywhere had a concentrated spot on the undulating silver roof adjoining it. The Purple Haze Wall is made of highly reflective colorful metallic shingles that look purple, pink, or orange depending on where one stands and the available light. It mirrored a reflection of it's own reflection, making this sort of Rorschach image of what I assume must be an Iron Butterfly. Okay, groan now if you must :-). This was in late afternoon, and the shot below was on another day in the morning. It is the first of the month theme day among City Daily Photo Bloggers all over the planet. Wow that is such a great reflection shot. Isn't it amazing how all of a sudden we can notice something we never saw before on something we look at all th time.
Even with your description, I don't exactly understand how this happens, but it sure looks fantastic. Like a lady's evening dress.
It is really an amazing reflection, a visual wonder. I'm fascinated by the beautiful colours.
What a fantastic reflection! One of the best I've seen so far.
Amazing. Truly a gorgeous shot!
Gorgeous triumph of colors for an amazing reflection. The shot below is one of the most inmpressive backgrounds I have ever seen in a picture.
To me, it looks like Dorothy's ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz. Fantastic!!!
What a truly stunning image. It's a work of art in itself. Such beautiful vibrant colours like silk almost and then they kind of melt. Extraordinarily beautiful. I love both images actually. Bravo, Kim. Superb.
I love Greensboro DP's comment.
Looks like a butterfly to me. A very interesting post for theme day.
Fabulous, fabulous image for the reflection theme.
Tremendous catch. It must have been difficult to decide what topost. Seattle is full of such fantastic reflections.
Iron Butterfly---wow that takes me back Kim, but perfect for EMP.
Great reflection and it is odd what one sees at different times of the day. MB
Outstanding, Kim!
I'm blinded by the light! What a fascinating phenomenon. I wonder if the architect planned it or if they just got lucky.
Kind of looks like a heart, too.
Could not find a better illustration for the theme!
The silver roof makes me think of the Guggenheim in Bilbao..
Gorgeous reflection! Looks like a piece of art!
Gehry's contribution to keeping photographers entertained and distracted can hardly be over-estimated.
He's a pretty good architect too.
Oops, good eye Kim :-)
So fab! I looooove the colors on this building. I remember being stunned by the colors when I accidentally came upon them during my afternoon visit to the Space Needle a couple of years ago.
Must be the most colorful reflection today!
This is fantastic, Kim!
I am always fascinated by reflections like this you have captured. I am especially intrigued with iridescent bird feathers.
Beautiful image of a fantastic light - reflections effect!
Great work Kim!
Wow, the reflections is lovely.
It looks like some art piece or a painting when I first glanced it.
Have a great Theme Day Kim!
"Rorschach image of what I assume must be an Iron Butterfly"
Hehehe, that's what I thought too, though glass and not iron. Love this fun, colorful material!
A traffic stopper if ever there was one.
Amazing colors! Good catch.
Lovely shot! And congratulations on the 4th anniversary :)
