This made an odd silhouette as I was coming from a sheltered portion of Post Alley into the light. I realized the sharp spiky things were to keep pigeons from roosting. I had never noticed it before (maybe because I'm short and don't look up enough :-) ). It was fun to see that lamp light against a blue daylight sky. Hope you are having a good Monday!

  5. Oh Kim, on a workday after a too-late worknight, this gave me a giggle, colorful bright morning lift. thanks!
p.s. I'm quite familiar with those spikes, as my university has installed them all over the window ledges outside my office. an improvement over pigeon nests and pigeon poop.

  6. I'm sure passers-by like the pigeon busters. I'm seen them a lot here, in Chicago and New York on window sills, gutters, that sort of thing.

  7. We noticed and posted a photo of some similar spikes on the parking lot lights downtown here recently. I pity the poor bird that tries to land on those.

  8. Such an impressive image. Really comes out of the portal and hits you. I had to see what those spikes were too and now I know and what a good idea.

  9. Hi, Kim. I've actually seen quite a few of these around Seattle (I'm taller!) There are some down on the waterfront, and they've even got the spikeys on some railings somewhere; can't recall. Ow.

  10. I absolutely love the colors and subject of this photo. It looks like a piece in an art gallery.

    Good job, Kim.
