No, they aren't waiting for the interurban. This family is gathered altogether on the couch to watch television, including the family cat and dog! This 1988 sculpture was created ten years after the artist's (Richard S. Beyer) most well known public piece, "Waiting for the Interurban"). "The Kingstones" sit outside the entrance of King5 Television on Dexter Street.
I've never seen this one! How funny!

ReplyDeletePuns always make me cringe, but I have to admit that the sculpture's title is appropriate. And, as is usual with them, the cat seems to be interested in something else entirely.
