The lobby of Seattle Tower was constructed to give the impression of a deep cave in a mountainside. The building's exterior was conceived to represent a mountain. The original name of the tower was the Northern Life building. It was constructed in 1929 and is very rich in art deco detailing. I liked seeing the man's reflection in the glossy dark granite wall as he exited the brass doors. Below is a photo of the back of the lobby where another man is gazing at the elaborate golden map of the Pacific Rim, emblazoned with the motto, "Westward the Course of Empire Takes Its Way."
