People hanging out and enjoying the view on the pedestrian overpass at Carkeek Park. Below them are railroad tracks that trace around the edge of the Puget Sound. Visible from this walkway is the mouth of Piper's Creek, once reduced by the railroad to a small culvert. After years of work and vigilance, community members have restored the creek's habitat to a level where chum salmon could be reintroduced and succeed in returning to spawn here year after year.
