Seattle knows how to stretch out a party! Bastille Day festivities started last Friday night and went on all weekend long at the Bastille Day Festival 2008 held at Seattle Center. It wouldn't have been complete without a Bal des Pompiers at Fisher Pavillion on Saturday night. Many of Seattle's wonderful French restaurants will be serving up celebratory dinner and lunch fare today and here's the scoop on where to go. I passed this announcement marked on Campagne's window Friday night in the Pike Place Market area. Salute to all our City Daily Photo blogging friends in France (click here to see them all), and French expats everywhere!

Thanks for your comment on Bastille Day in St. Louis. Look's like Seattle's celebration was more focused on French culture, gastronomy and refinement. Ours is very small and low-concept, held in a funky neighborhood known for seizing any excuse to drink in the streets. All in fun.
When my wife and I are out your way over Labor Day weekend, we're staying at the Silver Lake Inn on Lake Union. Hoping to get some seaplane shots (but not as good as yours, I'm sure).
It's my birthday, too!
If I rush I can still make it!!
Thanks from a Larchmont Expat!
Thanks for the link Kim, that's very nice. The fireworks for Bastille Day were cancelled here due to strong wind - the mistral has been blowing hard all day. These things happen...
Thanks for visiting my city photo blog (dailyphotofrom ranchopalosverdes). One of our daughters graduated from U of W, left Seattle for Chicago, returned for a few years, bought a townhouse near Alki Beach, and then left Seattle for grad school at Columbia U and NYC. Your photos are very engaging.
