I caught sight of Seattle's official city bird winging its way west along the shore in the Fremont neighborhood. The Blue Heron's wing span so large and its movements graceful, I always love watching them.

Herons are such graceful beautiful birds and you've captured this one fabulously. Amazingly that little curl up in the end of the wing.
Nice capture!
Wow, great shot. In flight shots are hard captures. MB
An amazing photo! Wonderful how you caught the heron in flight!
Beautiful photograph; reminds me a favorite poem by Wendell Berry entitled "The Peace of Wild Things"

awesome photo. How exciting?
It's incredible to me that the bird gets his legs up there.
I guess it's aerodynamics - the air pushes him up...but still, it's amazing.
I like the shot, and myself never manage to get a decent 'in flight' photograph.
Here's a question from left field, does any state have a 'state bird' that people eat? I figure some state must have chosen the turkey.
good catch, they do have a big wing span.
Majestic bird! I like watching them in "my" sky too.
Nice capture, I love Herons, I had no idea it was the offical city bird in Seattle, wow thanks for the info.
I love watching them along the seawall here by stanley park. They are a precious creature!
I am wild about bird photography,a dn love the majesty of a bird in flight. My birds are a lot smaller. Marvellous capture.
Katney and the Mountain led me to your site. Your shot of Mt Rainier over the harbor is just a fantastic photo. I looked back through your September posts and enjoyed them all. You live in a beautiful part of this world and have captured that beauty well in you daily posts. I'll be checking back regularly.
