Even mundane street scenes seem rich in color under cloud cover on autumn days. I saw the flaming yellow and orange of the background trees in the Ballard neighborhood and stopped to photograph them. Then I noticed the blue-green peeling paint of the rusting fire hydrant and thought how lovely the colors might look together. The vivid green of the lawn turned out to be a bonus.

Thanks, I needed these cheery colors to brighten up what has so far been a very gloomy day for me. :-)
Lovely combination. The hydrant looks like a little spaceman!
Yes it is a great combination of colours. I don't think you get better than autumn colours.
I also like the little Hydrant Man...love the deep teal against the warm foliage in the background...
Wonderful shot Kim. I like the little guy at the front.
Kim, few photographers could make an attractive photograph out of this subject, but you did it. It's a beauty.
I love the colour of the fire hydrant.
I love your poet's soul approach to every subject. WHat a great photo -- the mundane turned into art. Wonderful work, Kim!
The colors match perfectly together and the geometry of the hydrant with the tree. Beautiful shot!
You have such a good eye for seeing what is right in front of all of us. You then do a marvelous job of catching it with your camera.
Good eye, Kim. Remember a few years back (quite a few) when people were allowed to paint their hydrants?
Some were just striped or another color but some looked like people, monkeys, dogs or where ever the imagination took one. MB
This is so great - the little blue guy says "look at me, I'm so colorful" not realizing the color behind it
