Festive Taqueria

Photo & Text Copyright 2008 Seattle Daily Photo. All rights reserved, including reproduction or republishing.

The building on the corner is jackolantern orange all year, but right now at the Roxbury Ave. Taqueria Guaymas all the windows and doors are looking spooky and festive too, festooned with spider webs and ghosts. All the colors coming together at this White Center neighborhood intersection grabbed my eye and yelled "urban autumn."

The color is different. So is that bright green one.

Kim-I pulled up this Harborview photo in (I think) a google photo search--by far the best I could find of Harboview that illustrated what it truly means every time a helicopter lands there. I suppose that it illustrated so well the meaning I was trying to convey, it is truly a testament to your photography skills! I did not notice that it was copyrighted--in fact, if you enlarge it you can't see the same watermark I am seeing on your other photos? Why would that be?

In any case, I will definitely remove it as your request, and please accept my apologies.

I love pumpkin orange!
In answer to your question about my Mt Rainier photo, I don't remember the name of the trail, but it lead east from behind Paradise Inn to a waterfall. What makes the photo so good was the timing. It was taken at sunrise, just before the suns rays could light up the whole mountain. With the directional light, the details are much more crisp. I got out of bed eary that July day and got out there with the professional photographers. It was a lifetime experience, still and beautiful and shared with the deer.

The orange building looks great with the blue sky and the green wall.

What great color! Very appropriate for this week.

My dining room is a near-shade of this orange. It was hard to tell from the little sample, and I was afraid it wouldn't look good, but it does. Also, have you tried making a crop of your photo to include the door, sign, and guy/shadow? I think that would look good, too!! I love tacos, and to my great joy, they started making tortillas here not long ago.

I love your blog and visit regularly - your photos are fantastic and they inspire me to pay closer attention to things around me in the city and in my own neighborhood in north seattle. I am curious - what camera do you shoot with? What are your favorite lenses? Always love to hear from photographers what equipment they use. Have a great day!!

I lived about a mile from here during my pre and early teen years. My mom would take my brother and I to Taqueria Guaymas every other month or so as a special treat. Thank you for that hit of nostalgia!

I linked to this photo on my blog. I found "urban Autumn" in Orange County.
