Ready for the Pineapple Express

It's raining cats and dogs and will be for the next couple days. The "Pineapple Express," a common moist weather system that comes in from Hawaii, is chugging through. I got a flat tire and had to hobble to the tire center to get a fix. It was about time to get new tires on the back , anyway. The lines were very long with people having their storm and snow tires installed before those Thanksgiving road trips through snowy passes to be with kith and kin. I wasn't wearing shoes I could walk home in the rain in, so I waited for the work to be completed. I wasn't prepared like this fellow. He could go out in whatever hits the street and be just fine :-). Happy Friday everyone. Tonight I will be meeting our CDPBlogging friend Meead who is in Seattle with a group from his university attending a conference at UW.

SDP on CNN: CNN International interviewed me a few weeks back for the "Local View" feature of their webpage for their program "My City-My Life" featuring Seattle native Quincy Jones. They chose eight photos for a linked gallery and really put together a wonderful site to find out about all things Seattle. (Thanks to Chuck of Almost One a Day who punted to me because he was out of town and knew I love music). The program is airing several times over the next few days. It was fun to learn of Scott, a neighborhood news blogger in the Central District where "Q" grew up, who was also interviewed for the feature.

Hi there! I just got back from china and it is taking some time to visit everyone who dropped by while I was away. You got a really nice place here and I feel really terrible about the Tuba man. Stay dry and watch out for falling pineapples.

What a shot. The light, the boot. Fabulous.did you put the camera on the ground? I'm intrigued how you got this. I just love it.

Sorry about the flat tyre- raining cats and dogs here too.

Say Hello to the lovely Meead from me.

Exactly WHERE were you when you took this? I looks like you slippped on the wet pavement, went down and decided to take a fabulous photo before you got back up!HA

Well when I click on your post I find no picture--so I did it a few more times--nice text--no picture. It's very wet out here too. MB

Kim, this is a great shot. Hope you hadn't dropped your camera and decided to take a shot while it was down!

Had never heard of the Pineapple Express...

A big hello to Meead from Bibi in Belgrade.

Did you get a new camera with the movable LCD? Sure works.

Thanks for your concern about my possible slip! Yes, I did set the camera on the sidewalk for this (the tripod mount plate keeps the actual body off the wet pavement nicely). I've been working in a series of feet shots for another project, and have quite a collection going :-). And no, Abe, I didn't get a new camera. But I've got to start using my camera's "live view" feature (which I don't yet) to start doing low shots. People would notice me less if I were standing and using a cable release while still able to keep an eye on the screen. I'll have to try it. . .but the screen doesn't swivel up, Abe. I'll still get a stiff neck if I do it much ;^).

Please tell me you weren't laying on the wet ground to take this excellent shot!

Oops, just read your explanation. Glad you don't have to get wet for these shots! ;-)

Another shot I absolutely love. The colours, the textures, and the water on the sidewalk all caught my eye. Beautiful.

Kim, very cool! What a nice piece you helped CNN put together. Sheesh! Believe it or not, I'd forgotten all about that inquiry I sent your way. So glad you were able to field it so well. Congratulations!!

Congrats on your mention on CNN! Nice to get top billing like that for a blog that is one of the best out there. Your pictures of Seattle are spectacular and I hope the notice by CNN brings more appreciative readers your way.
