Not Monet's Bridge

Contemporary docks, gangways and sanitation systems were installed at Shilshole Bay Marina a couple years ago as part of the $80 million marina makeover by the Port of Seattle. There are 1411 slips, many of them occupied by a large liveaboard sailboat community. Gone is the romance of rotting wood and creaking pipes. Even the new contemporary metal gangways can look magical at sunset when the marina lights come up and color the water reflections of hundreds of masts.

Not Monet, true, but still a 'reflection' of his water!

You have echoed in this image everything I have ben saying on my reflections week and natural image and imagination. Kim's bridge is a Monet update.

But a stunning 'watercolour' in every sense.

A perfect entry for Theme Day: paths and passages. It's beautiful, underscoring the idea that beauty lies in even the most mundane objects. Nice!!

No Monet ( it rhymes!!!!) but he would certainly approve of your photograph with that wonderful light and reflection is ever so impressionistic.

Well, that's what I thought when I saw the thumbnail. We photographers sometimes get streetlights or the moon reflected in water, but such a riot of color! Now that I think about it, this also reminds me of Turner.

Wow, what a great shot, it's awesome! I like the combination of metal, smooth water and colors.

The water came out so cool. Those are moments you feel so lucky to be out at the right light to get that effect.

Bibi, Babooshka, & Sally, thank you so much! (And Sally, I love your new avitar photo!)

Kate, I wish it had occurred to me that this shot fulfilled our next theme day! I have another photo for that, but you are right. Thank you.

Brattcat, MB, and Virginia, you are all too kind. Thank you.

Thanks Bob. I think it was the colors and wateriness of it. . .and a bridge stucture above of course, that put me in mind of Monet. Fun that your mind went there, too. Turner, eh? Oh, and that reminds me. . .remember the cloche clad woman sitting in the window from awhile back that reminded me of a Hopper scene? Well, SAM will have a Hopper exhibit soon and their ad features the painting of two women wearing cloche hats in a chinese restaurant. . .called Chop Suey. I hadn't realized that was the painting my brain was pulling up as an association, but the colors were similar. Anyhoo, funny how much info is tucked in our brains from casual observation. . .I've not studied Hopper's work.

Ursel, Noxalio, and Roman, thanks much for your very kind comments!
