King Street Station Tower Facelift

Photo & Text Copyright 2009 Seattle Daily Photo. All rights reserved, including reproduction or republishing.

Snow last night and bright sun today! This is a typical Seattle scene: a ship on Elliott Bay, the Olympics and Bainbridge Island in the distance, the International District in the foreground, and the King Street Station clock tower. But you'll notice the shrouded clock tower roof is finally being refurbished after years of serving as a repository of multiple unsightly antennae and receivers. It should improve an already great view. The main station roof has already been retiled, and the once beautiful station interior will begin seismic upgrades and a restoration this spring. I love this station and look forward to seeing its new and sparkley version. I've shown you the station before here, here, here, and here.

Dave, I use a DSLR. I also use the delete button when spam is veiled as feigned interest in this photoblog.

Just a word about this comment space and strangers with a marketing motive posting ad links for travel, caregiving, products, apartments and the like: I delete spam, so please don't bother to post any. I welcome anyone's visits and comments, but unrelated links are out of place here. Folks in the CDPB community are more than welcome to add links to their sites, let us all know about their photos, blogs, books, calendars, honors and publications, but it's just kind of tacky and impersonal when newbies come in with an vapid comment and post other types of ads and links here, especially when you have no interest at all in daily photoblogs, truth be told. This is a place for a community of friends to share about their cities and photos and chat about their lives and interact with each other. Let's keep it real. Thanks.

cieldequimper & Juergen,
Thank you both so much! I love visiting Versailles and Marburg through your lenses and seeing what's out your window today in stead of mine. Although today the sun is bright, the vistas spectacular, and last nights snow nearly melted from the roofs and yards.

Beautiful scenic. That is what I think of when I think of Seattle, snowy mountains in the distance, even though I've never visited :(

Seattle is a gorgeous city. I was there many years ago and had a great time. This is a wonderful photo.

Sorry about that! Also, could you take the link to My Thoughts at the Moment down? I'd rather keep it private. Thanks!

Oh, what a glorious photograph. I love the way those majestic mountains and magnificent architecture come together here.

Thanks also for your thoughtful response to my lament about local independent booksellers. I think you're right about the chains.

Glad I can leave a comment here today. This is so gorgeous. I keep trying to focus on the tower but those mountains and that ship keep pulling my eyes away. We're so lucky to have you capture Seattle for us!
