Skywatch: Sunset Hill Summer Sunset

Sunset Hill Summer Sunset

I used to glimpse the sunset nearly everyday from Sunset Hill Park when my mom lived a block away and I would walk her dog. This is looking northwest over Puget Sound and Bainbridge Island toward the Olympics, the boats of Shilshole Bay Marina just visible in the foreground, and the bouy often populated by barking sea lions bobbing to the left of the sunset reflection. It's Skywatch Friday and you can see the skies around the world today by clicking the symbol.

Fantastic! And it did look just that way! I still say that there's no way to beat the skies we have here in Washington! Superb shot!

Enjoy your weekend!

Wow, the colors are amazing.

It's nice to have such a beautiful unobstructed view of the sunset.

Wowie zowie, guys! Thanks so much. And Sylvia, I'm glad you caught this stunner sundown, too, and can verify there was no boosting of color in this shot, just put my chop mark and a frame on it. And, thanks very much to those who follow SDP via Google Friend Connect. As of today there are 200 of you following. WOW! Thanks very much. Last month the number of subscribers via RSS feed poked above 1800, which is mindblowing to me. I'm so glad you enjoy checking in for a view of Seattle and I appreciate so much your lovely and thoughtful comments.

Please, if you come to Seattle, be sure to contact me before you come so I can meet you for coffee and say hi in person.

Stunningly beautiful shot, Kim. Amazing the way you've captured the sun itself, the streams of fire coming from it (or so it appears) and that marvellous deep blue water and the rippling reflections. It's such a thoroughly satisfying shot to sit and enjoy and goodness, admire. It makes me want to shut my eyes a little so the glare doesn't get me, as it would in reality. That's something in a photo!

Oh, my! What a shot! I love the way your images reveal on my screen. Slowly, seductively. Beginning at the top and then coming in a little at a time until the bottom of the image has loaded in. It is just the best experience, Kim, because I can never predict at the top what I'll find at the bottom. And then when I sit and take in the entire composition, I am never, never, never disappointed!
