This wasn't quite my mental image of the Coast Guard until I saw these two craft coming through the Locks on the ship canal. With huge guns mounted fore and aft, and every crew member strapped with pistols, you can tell these patrols are earnest about security. Seattle is a huge port and I imagine the Coast Guard's job here is rather huge as well. More shots at More Seattle Stuff.

Looks like they've had enough of Puget Sound and are headed inland. Love that splash of red-orange!
Wow. I always think of the Coast Guard as the rescuing branch of the services. This puts an entirely different spin on it. But of course...the coast guard was designed to guard our coasts.
