Lone Rower

It was early evening and this was the first person I saw out on the water heading along the Ship Canal under the Fremont Bridge and out onto Lake Union. Cold or sunny, you'll always see rowing enthusiasts out alone in a scull or rowing with friends or as part of a crew morning and evening. There are several rowing clubs along Lake Union's shore.

Love seeing this landscape. It really gives a feel of your community. Water, bridges, overcast, pristine...

Happy New Year. Here's to another great year of photoblogging.

The blue shows up beautifully in the reflection.

The blues are indeed lovely. It makes me almost wish I were not warm and snug in my bed, but out there in the brisk weather being healthy. Maybe later in the day.

His or her passage was guarded by the troll.

I saw some people kayaking in the Mississippi on New Year's Day. They will be on STL DP soon.

Thanks Janis & David! Happy New Year to you, too. It's funny, I never think of it as being particularly "pristine" in Seattle, but I think you're right. Thanks.

The blue is all that seems to come forward in the gray gloom :-). Thanks Kate.

Joanna, nice to know some folks view SDP whild still cozy in bed! :-)

I will look forward to your Big River Kayakers, Bob. How swift is the current near you? I could skip a stone across the ship canal (except I'd hit a boat! :-), but the Mississippi. . .that would be way too intimidating for me to get out on in a small vessel. Pure imagination, as I've never been except through your photos.
The Troll lives under the next bridge just up a ways and is only interested in what's up above on Aurora ;^).
