New WiFi Service on Washington State Ferries

Coming & Going

Here's a perfect blending of old and new. Riding the Washington State Ferries was a favorite relaxing study haunt during my college days. Now the WSF system is adding WiFi service (for a fee) to many of its routes. Three routes already make the service available, and apparently one can connect from anywhere on board, even the car deck. I'm thinking this will be a very popular service with regular commuters. BC Ferries (Canadian) and a San Francisco Bay ferry service are also planning new WiFi services soon. Washington Sate Ferries runs the largest ferry system in North America. I photographed these two ferries coming and going on Seattle's Elliott Bay.

Is this a long crossing? I mean, you need more than ten minutes to make it worthwhile.

Most of the ferry routes are 30 minutes to an hour.

Hi, Kim--

I'm the travel editor at Cooking Light magazine, and I'm editing a story on Seattle for our December issue. Our editor is a big fan of your blog and suggested I interview you as a Seattle expert. Would you mind getting in touch today?

Looking forward to speaking with you,

Jen,
Thanks so much for answering Elaine's question. Added to the trip times you mention is also the wait time to load and unload, which always makes it seem longer.

Cindy, I've emailed you. Thanks!

Hi Kim,

I'm from Seattle, but living in London at the moment. I love the pictures on your blog, makes me smile thinking about Seattle. I'm wondering, what kind of camera do you use? The quality and clarity of your photos are amazing!

Katherine,
Nice to have an expat in London visiting for a peek home! I use a digital SLR with the best glass in the lens that I can afford. I've had great advice on lenses and stuff from Sam of Toronto's Daily Dose of Imagery and from Manu at San Francisco Daily Photography. I'd like to be them when I grow up ;^) See their sites for inspiration. Glad you like the photos.
