If you look closely at this wild ironwork fence you will notice its inspiration from natural forms of plants and blossoms. The flower finials seem to glow from within and are made of colorful glass or resin. It's a distinctive piece of work adorning the outdoor seating at Peet's Coffee & Tea on 34th and Fremont Ave. Unexpected design elements like this are to be expected in a neighborhood with a bent for artistic expression.
This just in: The artists that created this fence are Anna Sher & Rodman Miller.

Kim, this railing is one of my favorites and I stop and marvel over it's art and design each time I go to Peet's for coffee. Great angle you've chosen, too.
Your Dutch Bike post is wonderful! I need to stop by there and check out that conference bike. Never knew it existed, and it looks like many other interesting designs are available there as well. Good to know there are alternatives to my scooter if gas keeps going up :)

Beautiful ironwork, not unlike the famous ironwork and signs by Hector Guimard adorning the Paris Métro.
Here's some trivia: Peet's was founded in 1966. When Starbucks opened their first store in 1986 - they bought their coffee from Peet's!

I love this photo! I've never really noticed the detail on this railing until I saw this. Clearly a result of my stumbling into Peet's in serious need of caffeine!
