The mountain was out! Forgive me for this overdone, cliche Seattle view. I decided an updated view was in order since the new condo high rise Fifteen Twenty-one Second Avenue (near WAMU Center/SAM building in this shot) has just been completed and last year's shots show it under construction. The year before, it was non-existent in this view. Oh, and I almost missed it, just to the left of the Space Needle, that might be the Escala condominium highrise under construction on 4th Avenue. You can compare this shot with the black and white shot above to see the changes. I always love it when a couple elevators on the Space Needle are visible going up and down in these views.

It doesn't look cliched to me. It's a stunning shot.

Cliché or not, it's still a breathtaking view.

A slight scooch to the east and you'd have captured 30 years of my work-life...from 1st post-SPU job at the then-Washington Plaza towers, followed by Pacific Science Center, 'the box the Space Needle came in' (Seafirst Bldg),and finally Rainier Square/One Union. Nice update for one who's been away since the early 90's!

How could anyone get tired of a view like that? We are very fortunate here in the Pacific Northwest.

That view is on my morning run. It would be fun to get a collection of the photos from this location and see the Seattle skyline change.

Beautiful shot, Kim~ My husband came to Seattle on business a few years back and has a picture of the space needle but, it doesn't compare to yours. I hope to visit Seattle someday until then I hope you don't mind my stopping by to see your beautiful works. Have a great day.

Down here in the desert, this is downright eye candy, wayyy better than chocolates even. Thank you, thank you, and by the way, londondailyphoto had a great shot of a "unique feature" of that great city, so I posted a comment suggesting THE MOUNTAIN IS OUT! as rather a unique feature of another great city! I love in this photo, being able so clearly, to see Little Tahoma, as well.

Seeing Mount Rainier is like seeing the Eiffel Tower---never enough. I admit though that Mt. Rainier is often not too visible, which makes it all the more special.

You can tell the Seattleites -- we never get tired of the shiny city views with Mt. Rainier posing prettily in the background.

A cliche photo perhaps but foreigners like me never cease to be amazed by these stunning views. And I like the idea of keeping track of the changing skyline. I wouldn't know the difference but you would, and I like the insider's comment that comes with the photo.

I thought your Tuesday photo was an orthodox church, I was amazed to read that it was just a private house. I love it.

And your Feet shot for Theme Day was one of the best I've seen. So creative and well photographed! Well done!

Thanks so much to everyone for your resounding support of seeing, yet again, "the post card view." To tell you the truth, I photograph in this park once or twice a week. I wonder if a 365 days and nights of Kerry Park Lookout shots would be interesting to pursue? One nice thing about Mt. Rainier is that it is so BIG, no matter how much building goes on downtown, the sight of the mountain from here will never be obliterated. And MB can tell you, the city looks dwarfed by the mountain from up north. It's just ginormous. For 25 years in the SF Bay area I had a small watercolor of Rainier (viewed from the other side) on my dresser. I think its calling to me everyday won out! Now I look at it in person. When its out!

YES! 365 days and nights of The Mountain, from whatever lookout spot you choose, Kim, and this one is pretty spectacular. (pretty big commitment for you though--maybe you could start smallish, say, with 52 weeks of The Mountain, and give us days, nights, noons, dawns, whenever you happen to be in the park, lucky you)

NO cliche for those of us that long to be there - just pure beauty! 12 days until we arrive for 6 days of Seattle beauty - I can't wait!

Never, never would I get tired of seeing this view! Thanks for posting it.
We sayed as South Lake Union last summer and for some reason, the sound just seemed to carry there when we were standing/walking on the street and a lot of it was construction noise. My brother-in-law tried getting work in commercial building development about 15 years ago and at that time there was too much available space.
