It's me, Kim, popping back in for just today for City Daily Photo Blogger's first of the month theme day. Our wonderful guest photographer Shawn will be with you again tomorrow and through next Monday. There are 151 of us participating in this Best of 2008 theme, click here to view thumbnails for all participants of the best of CDPB 2008 around the globe. This photo of houseboats and liveaboards, Sleepy in Seattle, taken in October seemed to resonate the most with SDP visitors. However, here are a few more best SDP shots to take you down memory lane 2008. Happy 2009, and my very best wishes for your good health, security, and happiness in this new year.

Kim, I liked your houseboat image a lot the first time around ... thanks for repeating it. Also, thanks for reminding me about the type color ... thought something might be up with that, but short of posting way too early couldn't seem to fix it. All is well now. Happy 2009 to you, too.

Kim, Happy New Year. I love the pic you chose, but the mosaic underneath is irresistible, too. I was watching a movie - well, several - and now I recognize Seattle in any show now. Fantastic! Thank you.

How you could ever choose, with your talent, I can't imagine but goodness I adore the photo you have chosen. Such soft light, the colours, the reflection. What a joy it is.

And Kim, thankyou so much for your kind and generous comments on my blog. Made my day I can tell you!

Lovely idea too to make a collage. I see many of my favourites there!

Happy New Year, Kim.
Thanks for great support in 2008. I wish you have a colourful, cheerful and exciting like my favourite night shot of your wheel (in the collage) but also peaceful 2009.

I don't know how you do it, choosing "the one" among all your wonderful photos. ;) This one is fabulous: the tones, the water like a mirror, the atmosphere, ... ah, beautiful!
A very Happy New Year, Kim!! Bonne année!! :)

NB: love the new banner and the green on grey font!

Kim, you are the beating heart of the far-flung CDPB community, always generous with your comments to others as well as in your own posts of Seattle.

I love your first choice, but the most memorable for me was the father holding his son's arm at the skatepark. I'm glad it's in the collage. Blessings to you in 2009!

1. You are the winner of one thousand bonus points. I think it was probably summer since the sun had to be so high in the east but spring is close enough. The length and angle of the shadow of the Arch tell us that it's fairly early in the morning, given that north is at the top of the map-photo.

2. Thank you very much for your long, kind comment on my "best of" post today. It's very gratifying to read a note like that from a photographer I respect as much as you. Your work is consistently of the highest quality. I'm sorry I don't get around to leaving comments more ofter - too much life in the fast lane or something like that. I will resolve to be better about this in 2009.

3. The scene in your post today could only be in Seattle. As you know, I have great affection for your city. I also really like the red Ferris wheel below the Space Needle, the probably haunted VW bus and, of course, the picture of downtown from Queen Anne Hill from the night we were both shooting from that overlook but didn't know one another were there.

Best wishes for a happy 2009. I look forward to seeing more of your excellent work.

Happy New Year! Or maybe Merry New Year, to differentiate myself from the crowd...

It's hard to pick from so many great images.

You had trouble choosing, too! Happy New Year!

Kim, your photos are so inspiring, always interesting, capturing an essense that is too often overlooked. I love the one of the fashionable lady on the scooter (and your equally fasionable description of her attire!) Oh, and the one of the green roof. Thanks for your encouragement left around the world!

Beautiful and warm shot, great choice for the theme, the one of the VW van is also splendid. Best wishes for 2009 and thank you very much for your most kind comments and visits to MC blog.

It's a hard choice but you left out my favorite, although I'm also partial to the father/son skateboard shot you've included in the runners-up. You've taken a lot of great photos this year, Kim, and I hope the next year brings you joy and happiness and all the good things you so richly deserve.

Ah, this is truly beautiful, but it had hard competition. You had some great shots. The one with the space needle is one of my favorites. Yes, this summer. Let's do it!

Too many great photos too choose. Happy New Years Kim!
