He Can Park Wherever He Wants

Chuck, our favorite scooter aficionado and photographer extraordinaire from One A Day - Mostly Seattle commented on Tuesday's shot of the motorcyclist and pedestrians on the sidewalk that motorcycles and scooters definitely are not allowed to ride on the sidewalks like bicycles, but parking them on the sidewalk was not as clear--sometimes you might get ticketed, sometimes not. Well, no sooner had he said it than I found an example of someone who won't be having to worry about being ticketed, and thought I'd show it to you. A motorcycle officer needed to help some other officers direct a particularly tangled couple of intersections worth of bumper to bumper traffic on 5th Ave. There were no on-street parking spaces to be had, so he parked his huge, pristine HD up on the sidewalk. Here's a close up for you, too.

Nice shot of a pretty clean machine.

Yes, can you believe how clean and polished? I thought only firefighters and military personnel had time for such detailed maintenance. Thanks for stopping by, Don & Krise!

Cops can park where they want, and they can speed as much as they want. I guess it's a side benefit for risking their lives for society for not all that much money, and this guy gets a shiny "ride".

Oh my that is a beauty, both bike and image.

EB, well put!

Well Ms. Babooshka, after your comments about seeing the photo of Eric beside his scooter on Virginia's blog recently, when you say "oh my" on seeing a motorcycle, I know you mean it! :-) Do they have motorcycle patrols on the Isle of Mann? In the UK at all? We have that stereotype of London bobbies on bicycles which I bet is a way outdated image. Probably all wearing BMX wear on high tech bikes or cruising on Segways and such like the rest of the street patrols.

Very nice picture of a beautiful Harley. No matter what they drive, police can park wherever they want.

Hah! If I tried that I'd definitely get a ticket! Well, maybe. Then again, I did something similar just this afternoon ... though not so big and not quite as blatant -:)

It's almost too shiny and perfect looking - for a moment, I wondered if you'd photographed a toy motorcycle, Kim!
