Yesterday I got away with friends to a lovely spot on the Eastside of Lake Washington and had a wonderful, restorative, do nothing "productive" kind of day. I was surprised to come upon these rocking chairs on a dock with a Seattle city view. It was raining lightly, but I was too charmed to go indoors. Below is the view of the south north tip of Mercer Island and the tall buildings of the Seattle skyline beyond that in the center.

It looks like a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
What a great photo! We live on a lake, with a dock and chairs, but it never looked as artistic as your picture!
Cool pics, but that must be the north end of Mercer Island. Or you flipped the picture. It's geographically impossible to get Seattle skyscrapers to the right of the south tip of the island.
Kim....That was such a great shot. I thought it looked like something from my summers in New Hampshire rather than a couple of miles from home.
Thanks to each of you for your kind comments! And Dave, thanks for setting my compass right :-).

Wonderful nostalgic photo. I like it. It's a beautiful place with a fantastic view. Wow, I wish I could sit there.
I love this photo! I' actually leaving tomorrow to go to Seattle! I know it's last minute but if you have any tour info of places to go that tour guides and books dont tell you about let me know! I love to take pictures and am always looking for something interesting to take pictures of! Also, where is a good location of a place to take a good picture of the Seattle cityline?

Jocelyn,
Thanks for the inquiry. Hope you have a great trip and visit here. The best loved placed to shoot the city skyline are from Alki in West Seattle looking over Elliott Bay toward downtown Seattle (long distance involved so long lens advisable); also the north end of Beacon Hill from the Dr. Jose Rizal bridge (view of downtown with curving lines of I-5 freeway in foreground. . .very dramatic for long exposure dusk shots when the lights are just coming up and the light trails from the cars work magic); and the every popular Kerry Park outlook, which is very accessible and the most well-known view of the skyline here. Leave me a contact email if you would like further info. There will be a casual photowalk on Saturday starting at 2 PM in the Eastshore neighborhood sponsored by the Seattle Flickr group known as Alives in the Superunknown. It will be very neighborhood/object of interest oriented rather than travel/tourist, but an intimate way to get to know the area from Eastshore around Lake Union to the Wallingford neighborhood if photowalking is your thing. Best,
-Kim
