Seattle Nightlife: 9 PM at The Co-op

Photo & Text Copyright 2006 Seattle Daily Photo. All rights reserved, including reproduction or republishing.

It's 9 PM, and where can you find Seattle folks? Down at the co-op buying groceries. This shot is of the Fremont PCC. I mentioned in this July post that Seattle has a long and strong history of many types of cooperatives. The PCC Natural Markets began as a food buying club between 15 families in 1953. The PCC (Puget Consumer Cooperative) now has 8 store locations, continues to be a democratically operated membership organization, has a unionized work force, and is now the largest natural food cooperative in the USA.

Celebrate with me: this is Seattle Daily Photo's 100th post!

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your 100th post Kim! Quite an accomplishment and endurance! Please keep it going as I love Seattle, but don't get there but once a decade... Seeing it through your eyes is the next best thing.

Michael, thank you so much!

Yay! 100! Open a branch of this coop over here! (Which just refutes the whole idea of a coop, doesn't it?) If it didn't rain so much, and didn't have a big volcano, I feel like moving to Seatle. It looks like such a funky place!
